EPIC Scholarship Form

The EPIC Scholarship is a partnership between colleges of the ELCA and congregations. The college will match congregational financial gifts up to $750 per student per year. Applicants must be members of St John Lutheran Church. In 2013-14, St John plans on providing up to $750 per scholarship. Applications are due in the Church Office by May 20th, 2013.

It's essential that we minister to and with students, giving them the opportunity to grow into faithful disciples of Christ. Much of what we do is connecting students to other age groups and especially to those who are already in position to help them grow in faith. There are also events and programs dedicated to specific age groups. Check them out below!

Jr High

Live Out Loud Registration form

LIVE OUT LOUD is a program designed to help our junior high students and their families learn to live their lives as a disciple of Jesus. It goes beyond “being confirmed.” We want to challenge students to dig into God’s Word, to spend time with God and get to know him more and live their lives in worship to God, in thanksgiving for all we’ve been given and in service to others. You will hear about LIVE OUT LOUD as our program that prepares students to affirm their baptism (confirmation).

Open Hang! The youth room is open on Wednesday afternoons starting from 3:30-5pm!

Connect: In addition to Live out Loud, Junior High students are invited to participate in their Wednesday evening program Connect. Connect helps students to connect to each other, to God, and their faith to their everyday lives. Connect meets Wednesday nights from 6pm – 7:15pm

  • Tuesday nights are time of eating a meal together and fellowship
  • Wednesday nights provide opportunities to volunteer and a time of learning and small group discussion. Wednesday night topics include media choices, loves, making a difference and other Bible studies.
  • High School youth also plan and lead the Good Friday service.

Times: Tuesday nights, 6-9 pm; Wednesday nights, 7:30-9 pm

    College

St John is active in ministering to and with college students. While we look at college students largely with the same mentality as other young adults, we see that the unique challenges, schedules, and relationships surrounding college life demand a little unique attention. St John partners with Bethlehem Lutheran Church to connect with college students through the Lutheran Student Center on the UNI campus. regular worship, prayer, Bible study, and service opportunities paired with a semiweekly free coffeehouse are helping that community come alive as they grow in faith.
